Army, navy, air force chiefs to retire only at 62The government on Monday increased the retirement age of the three service chiefs from 60 to 62 years. However, their tenure of appointment -- three years -- has been kept intact. Thus, the three service chiefs will now retire at the age of 62 years or enjoy a three-year tenure, whichever is earlier. This follows a ministry of defence notification, fixing the age of retirement and tenure of appointment of the chiefs of army, navy and the air force. The new arrangement is applicable to the present incumbents too. Their tenure shall be counted from the date of assuming charge. UNI
