Huge arms cache recovered in Kashmir

Government troops foiled an attempt by militants to smuggle in a large cache of arms and ammunition from across the border on Monday evening.

The attempt was made in Kupwara sector. The couriers escaped into Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

A defence spokesperson said 12 kg of explosive material, five 107 mm bombs, 720 rounds of ammunition and a remote control device were recovered near the Line of Control.

In another incident in the same district, troops killed a militant and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition -- comprising 50 grenades, five 60 mm bombs, 15 rockets with boosters, 44 detonators, 30 remote control devices, one AK 56 rifle, three magazines and 730 rounds - from the Pandoosa forests.
