Freedom fighter Bhanushankar Dave passes away

Bhanushankar Hariram Dave, one of the last survivors who had participated in the famous Dandi march with Mahatma Gandhi, died in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

He was 90.

A media release issued by the Congress said Dave was at a Gandhi ashram for several years.

The veteran, jailed for participating in the freedom struggle, was felicitated by then prime minister Indira Gandhi. He spent his entire life for the cause of the Mazdoor Mahajan Sabha, and the uplift of the poor and downtrodden.
