Pak resumes fire in North Kashmir

On Sunday evening, Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked artillery and mortar shelling on Indian positions in North Kashmir's Nowgam sector.

A defence ministry spokesman said this was with a view to prevent the repair of damaged roads there. Indian troops retaliated and silenced the guns from across.

The repair work was resumed later and there was no fresh report of shelling, he added.

On Saturday night, at least seven Pakistani personnel were killed or wounded, and 12 bunkers destroyed when Indian troops retaliated with artillery fire in Kargil sector.

Pakistan had resumed shelling in the sector a little earlier, injuring at least two Indian jawans and destroying five bunkers.
