Bangarappa, Ahmed return to Congress

Former Karnataka chief minister S Bangarappa and former Union minister Abrar Ahmed rejoined the Congress Thursday.

All India Congress Committee general secretary Tariq Anwar told reporters that party president Sonia Gandhi admitted them into the party with immediate effect.

Bangarappa said all his supporters in the Karnataka Congress have also joined the party.

Abrar Ahmed, who left the Congress to join the Bharatiya Janata Party, said the BJP has proved in a very short time that it was anti-minorities and anti-dalits. The developments in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan amply demonstrate this, he said.

Ahmed said the credibility of the Congress has increased after Sonia Gandhi took over.
