3 killed, 9 injured in ethnic violence

At least three persons, including two women, were killed and nine injured, four of them critically, in fresh ethnic violence in Assam's Kokrajhar district on Monday.

Officials said security forces immediately rushed to the area, and that the situation was under control. However, the area was still tense.

The Bodos had clashed with Santhals near the Tukli river about four kilometres from Ananda Bazar.

In another incident, suspected Bodo militants shot dead a civilian, Dipak Das, at the Banglipara chowk in Nalbari district.

Four suspected United Liberation Front of Asom militants also abducted two persons from Simalutula Bazar village in Goalpara district on Monday.
