3 die in Andhra heat wave

The heat wave, continuing in Andhra Pradesh for the past one week, has claimed three lives so far.

On Wednesday, the mercury shot up to 42.9 degree celsius in Hyderabad.

Two persons died of sunstroke in Kurnool district Tuesday. The third died in Medak district last Monday.

Heat wave conditions also prevailed in parts of coastal Tamil Nadu.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in parts of Northwest Rajasthan, Central Maharashtra, northern interior Karnataka, Kerala and in the remaining parts of Tamil nadu, and above normal in East Madhya Pradesh, parts of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and coastal Karnataka.

They were appreciably below normal in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, and below normal in parts of Orissa, Bihar plains, East Uttar Pradesh and the remaining parts of Gujarat region.

They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from where data was sparse.

Thundershowers occurred at a few places in Assam, Meghalaya and southern interior Karnataka. Very light rain occurred at one or two places in Punjab. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Rain or snow is likely to occur at one or two places in the hills of West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, and at one or two places in Orissa, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, coastal and southern interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.
