IT raids on 25 fodder scam accused

In a countrywide swoop, the investigating wing of the income tax department yesterday raided for the first time the residential and commercial premises of 25 politicians including Bihar's Public Works Minister Illyas Hussain, Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Prem Gupta and party MLA R K Rana.

According to IT's Director General (east zone) S C Mishra, the authorities were yet to consolidate the recoveries and seizures in terms of cash, valuables and incriminating documents.

He said the raids were conducted at Patna, Bhagalpur, Narayanpur, Hazaribagh, Chaibasa and Deoghar in Bihar, Gurgaon in Haryana besides Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta Ghazibabad, Hyderabad, Madras and Jaipur.
