Arms training, guns for villagers of Udhampur

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said the people of Mahor area in Udhampur district, where 26 villagers were massacred last week, would be imparted arms training and provided guns for self protection.

Replying to a question in the assembly, the chief minister said village defence committees would also be set up.

''Before sending back the villagers (who are) presently camping in Reasi, Pouni and other areas of Udhampur, proper training would be given to them," he said.

Dr Abdullah said only one house was burnt by the militants after the massacre.
