Salim Kurla shot deadSalim Kurla, the man accused of being a Pakistani agent involved in the serial bomb blasts that rocked Bombay on March 12, 1993, was today shot dead along with two other people in a hospital near the Oshiwara police station in north-west Bombay by two unidentified persons. The police said Kurla received eight rounds of bullets on his body while the person who had come to meet him, Arif Cablewala, died after receiving four rounds. The assailants also shot at Arif's driver who later succumbed to his injuries. The assalilants barged into the hospital where Kurla was hospitalised and fired 12 rounds at his bed. Kurla was arrested in January 1995 after police established his links with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence. He was charged with acting as the ISI agent handling manpower for terrosist training in Pakistan. The trained persons were actively involved in the serial bomb blasts of March 1993. He was released on bail by the trial court last year. UNI
