Heat wave continues in Andhra

Parts of Andhra Pradesh, including state capital Hyderabad, reeled under heat wave conditions for the third consecutive day on Monday.

The highest day temperature of 44 degree centigrade was recorded in Nandyal.

Many of the usually busy streets of Hyderabad, which recorded around 42 degree centigrade, five degrees above normal, wore a deserted look as the people preferred to remain indoors.

Heat wave conditions also prevailed in parts of Haryana, Punjab, Kashmir and Tamil Nadu.

Temperatures were appreciably above normal in South Rajasthan, in parts of Assam and Meghalaya, East Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, and in the remaining parts of Telangana.

They were above normal in the hills of West Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, North Central Maharashtra, coastal and southern interior Karnataka and Kerala, and in the remaining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.

They were below normal in some parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, and normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh and North Rajasthan from where data was sparse.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, and at one or two places in Tamil Nadu and southern interior Karnataka.

Very light rain occurred at one or two places in Assam and Meghalaya.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, and at one or two places in Andaman and Nicobar islands, Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar plains.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.
