Summons issued to Kesri in defamation case

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Prem Kumar today summoned former Congress president Sitaram Kesri on May 4 in a defamation case filed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh for alleging that the latter was behind the Coimbatore serial blasts.

In a criminal complaint, Delhi Pradesh RSS president Satya Narain Bansal had stated that Kesri, at a media conference, had allegedly held the RSS responsible for the February 14 serial bomb blasts in Coimbatore in which more than 40 people were killed.

The CMM has also summoned the publishers of the Times of India and the Navbharat Times on May 4.

The RSS had also arrayed as respondents these two dailies for carrying the defamatory statements on purely technical grounds, but they have nothing against these newspapers.
