Fernandes rejects moves to internationalise Kashmir problem

Defence Minister George Fernandes yesterday said India will not accept any move from any quarter to internationalise the Kashmir issue and will use every option open to settle it.

Talking to the media in Jodhpur, he said, ''I am not at all amused at the Pakistani interpretation of my reply to a question on Kashmir.

''In my reply, I had said nobody need have any doubt that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. When I referred to the UN resolution and the Simla agreement and secret talks on Jammu and Kashmir, I was only underlying the fact that Pakistan is an illegal occupant of a part of Jammu and Kashmir,'' he added.
