Stop issuing threats, Pak tells India

Pakistan Foreign Minister Gohar Ayub Khan says India should stop issuing threats and negotiate a settlement of the Kashmir dispute.

This would be in the interest of the region, Khan said.

Pakistan had no aggressive designs and did not threaten any one, he said, but the country had the capability to defend its sacred soil and pay back aggression in the same coin, Khan said.

Khan was responding to remarks by Defence Minister George Fernandes who had said that India's Prithvi missile is capable of reaching all of Pakistan. Khan said the Ghauri's range could be extended by launching it from ships.
