Heat wave plagues parts of Gujarat

Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in parts of Gujarat.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in central Maharashtra and parts of south Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, south Tamil Nadu, and coastal and some other parts of Karnataka and Kerala.

They were normal in south Orissa, in parts of Konkan and Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh, south Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka and the remaining parts of west Madhya Pradesh.

They were appreciably below normal in parts of sub- Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar and west Rajasthan, and below normal in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, north Orissa and hills of west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab.

They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh, the plains of west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Vidarbha from where the data were sparse.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and at one or two places in Gangetic West Bengal, east Rajasthan and east Madhya Pradesh.

Very light rain occurred at one or two places in west Rajasthan, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Rain or snow is likely to occur at one or two places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, at a few places in Gangetic West Bengal, and at one or two places in Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, south Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.
