Chamling's party admitted to NE political grouping

The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front headed by Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling has been admitted as a constituent of the North-East Regional Political Parties' Forum.

Chamling has joined the forum headed by Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta with the conviction that the special needs of the North-Eastern states could be amply projected by it. He had applied for joining it and Mahanta admitted him on Wednesday, according to Forum convenor G Joykumar Sharma who is a senior leader of the Manipur People's Party.

The other members of the forum are the Asom Gana Parishad, the Arunachal Congress, the Manipur People's Party, the United Democratic Party of Meghalaya, the Nagaland People's Council, the Mizo National Front, the Mizo People's Conference and the United People's Party of Assam.
