Even as the wait continues for films to get back on the floors, there is a buzz around what the top stars have in store for us

Interestingly, there are quite a few Southside remakes coming up.

Joginder Tuteja looks at the forthcoming remakes.

Akshay Kumar, Laxmmi Bomb
Kaanchana

The only South remake that is complete is Laxmmi Bomb.

Though the principal shooting of this Raghava Lawrence remake of his Kaanchana is done, the VFX remains.

Akshay Kumar is known for making three to four movies every year and this time, the horror comedy genre has caught his fancy.

Akshay Kumar, Bachchan Pandey
Veeram

Akshay is working on another remake, Bachchan Pandey.

An official remake of Ajith Kumar's 2014 starrer Veeram.

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala is known to pick up South films and give it his own take. Director Farhad Samji will make Bachchan Pandey a pan-India affair.

Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan
Vikram Vedha remake

Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan may have signed up for the remake of the Tamil film Vikram Vedha though there is no confirmation yet.

This R Madhavan-Vijay Sethupathi starrer is one of the best Tamil thrillers and now, Bollywood wants to benefit.

Ajay Devgn
Kaithi remake

Ajay Devgn has planned to remake the Karthi starrer Kaithi.

The action thriller released last year and the rights were picked up almost right after.

Ayyappanum Koshiyum is a riveting dramatic thriller with Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menon. Now, John Abraham -- whose dad Abraham is a Malayali -- will remake the Malayalam film in Hindi.

It is uncertain if John will be seen as an actor as well, but expect a cat and mouse game here.

Shahid Kapoor
Jersey remake

Besides Laxmmi Bomb, the other South remake which has completed substantial shooting, is Jersey.

Based on the namesake Telugu film featuring Nani, this one is an emotional father-son tale with cricket as the backdrop.

For Shahid Kapoor, this will be his second consecutive South remake after Kabir Singh, which was based on Arjun Reddy.

Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, which released earlier this year, already holds the distinction of being the biggest Telugu hit -- apart from the Baahubali movies -- which pretty much tells you about its popularity.

Kartik Aaryan has a big job on hand to fill Allu Arjun's big shoes.

Sidharth Malhotra
Thadam remake

The last major announcement made before the lockdown was that Thadam will feature Sidharth Malhotra.

The original Tamil action thriller, Arun Vijay, released last year.

RX100

If not for the pandemic, Ahan Shetty may have made his debut with Tadap, a remake of the Telugu hit RX 100.

This Kartikeya Gummakonda-led romantic action dramatic thriller was a surprise success at the box office.

Now, Producer Sajid Nadiadwala will scale it up with Director Milan Luthria.
