You saw PART 1 of this special.
Joginder Tuteja brings you the second part:
Holiday
Box office collection: Rs 113 crore
A film with immense recall value, Holiday was a solid hit on its release. Now, it has achieved a superhit status of sorts on the satellite and OTT circuits.
This A R Murugadoss action drama was a good entertainer and boasted of some solid twists.
Gold
Box office collection: Rs 105 crore
Gold, a sports movie, entered the Rs 100 crore club.
It got a lot of competition from Satyameva Jayate, which released on the same day.
Baby
Box office collection: Rs 95.50 crore
Baby is one of Akshay's earlier films before he started scoring centuries at the box office.
He delivered a good performance in this thriller directed by Neeraj Pandey.
Gabbar Is Back
Box office collection: Rs 87.59 crore
Another film that narrowly missed entering the Rs 100 crore club, Gabbar Is Back featured Akshay as a no-nonsense vigilante.
Packed with masala ingredients, the film saw a lot of action as well as Akshay's solid chemistry with Kareena Kapoor.
PadMan
Box office collection: Rs 81.82 crore
PadMan came at a time when Akshay was working on films with a nationalist and patriotic feel to them. The film won him a National Award.
Directed by R Balki, the film took on the issue of menstrual hygiene and saw critical appreciation as well.
OMG: Oh My God!
Box office collection: Rs 81 crore
Akshay had an extended special appearance in OMG: Oh My God!, which hinged on Paresh Rawal's power-packed performance and made for a solid impact right through the narrative.
This Umesh Shukla directorial went on to be a huge winner at the box office.
Welcome
Box office collection: Rs 75 crore
Anees Bazmee's Welcome has enjoyed an immense shelf life for more than a decade.
The coming together of Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar along with Katrina Kaif and Mallika Sherawat was a huge draw amongst the audiences, who laughed all through the narrative.
Singh Is Kinng
Box office collection: Rs 74 crore
Singh Is Kinng saw Akshay as a Sikh in this Anees Bazmee comedy.
A follow-up to Welcome, the film boasted of some chartbuster music.
Akshay and Katrina Kaif's successful pairing made sure the film became a superhit, ensuring the former's rapid climb in his career.
Tees Maar Khan
Box office collection: Rs 68 crore
Tees Maar Khan may not be among Akshay's most remembered films, but it took a good opening and went on to be a reasonable success at the box office.
One expected Director Farah Khan to deliver a superhit again after Om Shanti Om, and though Katrina Kaif's Shiela Ki Jawaani remains a rage till date, there isn't much of recall value here.
Special 26
Box office collection: Rs 67 crore
An intelligent thriller directed by Neeraj Pandey, Akshay and Anupam Kher were in their element. Surprisingly, the film did not cover the distance it truly deserved.
But it has aged like fine wine since then.
