When Fashion and Beauty collide, glamorous magazine covers are born.

But in this day and age of fleeting attention span and flourishing Photoshop, Bollywood divas and fashion editors are getting increasingly inventive to make a lasting impression.

2012 saw quite a few gorgeous covers hit the stands. Here are the top 12 favourites.

Deepika Padukone, GQ

Few actresses can boast of a 10-on-10 figure like Deepika Padukone.

With her tall frame, ideal curves, sharp features and magnificent grace, she fits into the vision of any designer -- kitschy, fierce or minimalist.

The Race 2 star channels her inner Catwoman to a wow-inducing effect in a tight leather suit on this impossibly hot GQ India cover.

Kangna Ranaut, Harper's Bazaar

Save for the non-starter Tezz, Kangna Ranaut didn't have any releases this year.

But Bollywood's most chic resident ensured she's provides dramatic doses of glamour with her stylish social outings and this sparkling Harper's Bazaar cover covered from head to toe in hues of electric purple.

Anushka Sharma, Harper's Bazaar

Harper's Bazaar, doling out some of the most fashion-forward covers of this year, struck gold once again with this vintage meets sassy styling on Anushka Sharma.

The leading lady of Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, it must be said, is quite a delight on red carpet and magazine spreads.

Already looking forward to what the slim star has to offer in the coming year.

Sonam Kapoor, Maxim

If fashion is a subject; Sonam Kapoor is a Straight-A student. She's also quite a hottie, mind you!

The 27-year-old slips into some sexy, silver-shade lingerie to give us her most sizzling cover EVER!

Priyanka Chopra, Vogue

Vogue celebrated its fifth anniversary with five separate covers featuring showbiz's hottest heroines like Katrina Kaif, Deepika, Sonam, Anushka and Priyanka Chopra.

And the one with Ms Chops in a dazzling floor-length Bibhu Mohapatra black and gold gown gets our vote.

Sridevi, Filmfare

It's always refreshing to see someone other than the usual suspect adorn a magazine cover.

Especially when that someone happens to be one of the longest reigning Queens of Bollywood -- Sridevi.

The English Vinglish star floored us with a glorious comeback and this elegance personified Filmfare cover.

Monica Dogra, Grazia

Frontwoman of Shaa'ir and Func, Dhobi Ghat's leading lady or The Dewarists host, Monica Dogra is a woman of many introductions.

And look, just how much edge, spirit and character she brings on Grazia's July issue.

Nargis Fakhri, Elle

She may have earned a lot of flak for her constant pout and bland performance as Ranbir Kapoor's muse in Rockstar.

But the half-Czech, half-Pakistani American in India sure knows how to inject life in Elle's summer edition.

Lisa Haydon, Verve

If Jennifer Aniston paid a picture-perfect tribute to Barbra Streisand on Harper's Bazaar in 2010, model-turned-actress Lisa Haydon wakes up to a similar concept this year.

Lady Haydon flatters the American singing sensation Lady Gaga drawing heavily from the latter's iconic get-up including over-the-top bling and bright silver hair.

Chitrangada Singh, L'Officiel

Chitrangada Singh's fabulous turn in a dreamy, pastel Manish Malhotra lehenga works really well in breaking the monotony of seeing our models in mostly international couture.

What say, you?

Kareena Kapoor, Hello!

With three releases (Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Agent Vinod, Heroine, Talaash), two special appearances (Rowdy Rathore, Dabangg 2) and a grand wedding to long-time beau Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor had a rather eventful year.

She graced quite a few covers in 2012 but it's her dramatic departure from romantic and opulent to a stern-faced diva in a structured Raakesh Agarvwal jacket that has us at, well, Hello!

Vidya Balan, FHM

2012 was quite fruitful for Vidya Balan.

She picked up a Best Actress trophy for her work in last year's The Dirty Picture at every single award function, including National Awards.

Her only release Kahaani, an author-backed role, was one of the biggest hits of the year and she wed UTV chief Siddharth Roy Kapur.

It isn't a case of all work and no play, of course.

The thinking man' sex symbol hits a sensual note with backless pose on FHM draped in little else except a Madras print lungi.
