PIX: When Sound Of Music's Robert Wise Met Yash Chopra

In his long career, Yash Chopra's charm was not restricted to the Indian film industry but extended to international film personalities as well.

Hollywood filmmaker Robert Wise, who made such cult films like The Westside Story and The Sound Of Music, made sure to stop by and meet Chopra on his visit to India in 1982.

Wise visited the sets of Mashaal, starring Dilip Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Waheeda Rahman and Rat Agnihotri, and directed by Chopra. We take a look at some of these rare photographs.

Yash Chopra was shooting the song Holi Aayi Re in Mashaal in Rajkamal Studios, Parel, central Mumbai, at the time. The song also featured Anil Kapoor.

Mashaal, which released in 1984, unfortunately flopped at the box office.

'You feel down when your films don't do well, especially when you get attached to them,' Chopra had once said in an interview.

Of course, nothing could keep him down for long. The filmmaker bounced right back with a spectacular hit in Chandni (1989).

Truly, a Kodak moment, featuring two of the greatest directors of their time.
