As Shah Rukh Khan turns 46 today, we decided to take a look at what really made him India's superstar. We picked 10 movies from his career of blockbusters, films that we think SRK performed really well in. This, of course, was no mean feat as the actor has given us MANY great movies.

Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa
One of Kundun Shah's great movies, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa was a triangular love story between Sunil (Shah Rukh Khan), Chris (Deepak Tijori) and Anna (Suchitra Krishnamoorthy).
While Chris and Anna become an item, Sunil can't help but play jealous, and try his hardest to change her mind.
This film, in fact, is SRK's all time favourites too, as he once said in an interview: 'I have been working for 16 to 17 years but this is one movie that will remain very close to my heart. At that time I was not a producer. But there is one wish that will remain unfulfilled -- I wish I had made this movie.'
Darr
Shah Rukh played the unconventional hero here, in another triangular love story between Rahul (SRK), Kiran (Juhi Chawla) and Sunil (Sunny Deol). Only this time, his jealousy hit the roof, as his Rahul could go to any length to get Kiran, including murder.
Darr was SRK's first film with Yash Raj Films, with whom he has many, many films.
Baazigar
Baazigar was the first time that Shah Rukh was paired with Kajol, with whom he would later make his biggest blockbusters.
Directed by Abbas-Mustan, the film was a revenge drama. The film also marked the debut of Shilpa Shetty.
Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is one of SRK's biggest hits so far, and has become a cult of sorts. The film, in fact, will still playing in Mumbai's Maratha Mandir.
This was Aditya Chopra's directorial debut.
Yes Boss
SRK re-united with his Darr co-star Juhi in this romantic comedy about ambitious people.
Aditya Pancholi, playing the titular Boss, played the third angle to this romance.
Pardes
Subhash Ghai's Pardes was the biggest hit of 1997. It did well overseas as well, as the story revolved around an NRI who comes to India looking for a bride.
The NRI (Apurva Agnihotri), however, doesn't get the bride (Mahima Chaudhry), who of course, falls for SRK's Arjun.
Dil Toh Pagal Hai
Dil Toh Pagal Hai was second biggest hit in 1997. The music and dance -- especially featuring Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor -- were the highlights of the film.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Karan Johar made a fabulous directorial debut with this film, which was the highest grosser of 1998.
Another triangular love story for Shah Rukh Khan, where he got both the women in the end!
SRK and Kajol's chemistry in the film was great, and Rani Mukerji made a great cameo as well.
Devdas
Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's Devdas has been told many times on screen. This version, however, won extreme reactions. While some loved others, there were many who thought it was too loud and dramatic.
However, the actors -- SRK, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai -- looked spectacular.
Kal Ho Naa Ho
SRK seems to have made a living out of triangular love stories!
In this Nikhil Advani film, Naina (Preity Zinta) fell in love with Aman (SRK), who was terminally ill. Her best friend Rohit (Saif Ali Khan) eventually got her.
Main Hoon Na
Taking a break from triangular love stories, SRK did an action film, Main Hoon Na, where he played an undercover army major, who joins a high school to protect the General's daughter, and also to look for his step-brother.
Swades
Swades is one of SRK's best performances till date but unfortunately, the film did not fare well in India.
One of the biggest disadvantages was the length of this Ashutosh Gowariker epic.
Don
A remake of Amitabh Bachchan's Don (1978), the new version did quite well too.
Farhan Akhtar made the film slick, with some great action. The sequel will release next month.
Chak De! India
Another great performance delivered by King Khan, Chak De! India was a film very different from SRK's regular films.
Directed by Shimit Amin, the film was about a failed hockey coach, who coaches a girls' hockey team to success.
Om Shanti Om
This Farah Khan film was the biggest hit of 2007.
People loved SRK, and a new star -- Deepika Padukone -- was born.
