While the Indian films generated a lot of buzz at the recently-concluded Cannes International Film Festival, our ladies were also the centre of attention as they walked the red carpet on designer wear for various film premieres, photocalls and interviews.

This year was probably the most anticipated for Ash and millions of fans and observers the world over.

The new mum didn't disappoint at all.

Mallika Sherawat grabbed eyeballs in this daring Ali Mhadavi creation for her first red carpet appearance. But the look was slightly tacky for Cannes.

Her second appearance saw her in a relatively demure outfit. Hoodie et all.

She arrived at the India pavillion at Cannes in a rather ho-hum Victoria Beckham dress.

The hair was an absolute killjoy.

Actress Freida Pinto was the first to arrive at Cannes and attended the Moonrise Kingdom premiere.

Her Michael Angel dress with a beaded bodice would have been a winner if she wasn't so ill at ease with the thigh-high slit.

But she more than made up for it with this divine diva-like Paco Rabanne dress designed by Indian designer Manish Arora. Uber chic!

She was bang on with the thigh-high slit in her Atelier Versace lime green gown as she attended the Marion Cottilard-starrer De Rouille et D'os' premiere.

Kalki Koechlin's first Cannes appearance this year saw her in a Dior outfit and statement jewellery.

If it wasn't for her dazzling smile, she'd be totally washed out with the dress's colour.

Miss Lovely actress Niharika Singh looked angelic in a flowing white maxi gown by designer Swapnil Shinde for the film's photocall.
