Vijay Raghavendra's Kannada film Vinayaka Geleyara Balaga has created much curiosity which will be satisfied when the film releases on July 15.
The film, directed by Nagendra Prasad, tells the story of five young men from Bengaluru who organise a Ganesha Chaturthi festival. Set in the 1980s, the film is clearly an attempt to infuse enthusiasm among today's youth about the festival.
Meghana Gowkar is the heroine and other leading roles are played by Naveen Krishna, Manish, Petrol Prassana and Kuri Pratap.
The cast will be visiting some 25 cities in Karnataka to promote the film. As part of the 10-day interaction programme, they will be visiting colleges and old age homes and meeting groups that organise Ganesha festivals on a large scale, including one in Belgaum that has organised the festival for 105 years. "The interaction will help us gain useful insights for future projects. Also, poor students in such groups will be identified and given funds to support their education," says Nagendra Prasad.
To mark the start of the excursion, renowned music composer Hamsalekha, who Nagendra Prasad considers his guru, was honoured. "This is our way of thanking him for giving the industry such wonderful music," said the director.
Receiving the honour, Hamsalekha said, "Just like Ganesha, I will be glad to help anyone seeking assistance in the industry." He also noted how important it was for artistes and film makers to interact with people as such interactions stimulate creativity. On a lighter note he observed that more than motion pictures, it was 'pro-'motions that mattered today.Yash gets Lucky
Image: YashYash has been riding a wave of success. After receiving good reviews for his performance in Rajadhani, a film that explored the lives of five youth who take to criminal activities to make a quick buck, he stole the show in his recent release Kiraataka.
Next on the cards is Lucky produced by actress Radhika. Simply put, it's the story of a dog, a boy named Lucky and his dream girl. And none other than Ramya plays the dream girl. The film is expected to have a lot of graphics. A new director will wield the microphone while Krishna is the cameraman.
The film will go on the floors in August.Kitty and Chandru team up
Image: Kitty and Chandru team upAfter giving quite an emotional performance in Sanju Weds Geetha, Srinagara Kitty is set to get a few laughs in Ko Ko The Game of Love, with Priyamani as his co-star. Ko Ko, incidentally, refers to kothi (monkey) and koli (hen).
Director Chandru says Kitty will be seen in a new light in the film. He plays a rather loud character and wears bright-coloured clothes to go with the role. While in Sanju Weds Geetha he played a faithful lover, in Ko Ko Kitty is a playboy.
Priyamani plays a sophisticated urban girl. She has even shed six kilos for the role. Telugu actor Srihari is also part of the film which will be shot in Bengaluru, Mandya and Sakkaleshpur, among other places.
Kitty's other project is Anarkali. He has replaced Diganth in the film to be directed by Sadhu Khokila.
