After finding great success in Tamil films like Yaaradi Nee Mohini and Vennila Kabadikuzhu, Saranya Mohan is making her entry into Malayalam with director Viji Thampy's Chemistry.

The film produced under the banner of Vaishnavi Creations is about the story of 12th grade students.

According to Viji Thampy, who has directed several hit movies in the past including Witness, Soorya Manasam, Nanma niranjavan Sreenivasan and Bada Dosth -- Chemistry "touches on certain issues related to the misuse of mobile phones, especially by young students at an immature age."

He continues, "Mobile phones have made life easier but at the same time things can go wrong, so the kids have to be really careful. There is a mystery element here, as the story also deals with the mysterious deaths of three students -- Gauri, Aleena and Kalyani."

"I am happy about my role in Chemistry. My character is of a 12th grade student named Parvathy, who has grown up in the US but likes everything traditional," she says.

The other heroine of the film is Shilpa Bala, who did Orkkuka Vallappozhum. She plays Gauri, the brilliant daughter of a lorry driver who gets admission into an elite school for the rich.

Mukesh plays a cop named Sreekanth, who is in charge of the investigation into the death of the three students.

"My character has a particular interest in this case as Parvathy happens to be my niece and the students who died were her friends," he says.

Mukesh is busy with quite a few films, one of which is the third part of the In Harihar Nagar series.

"We have done the second part 18 years after we did the first. I have told director Lal that we can't maintain this shape for another 18 years," he laughs.
