The title of the film is the first attraction and one of the characters in the film is called Natholi Natholi, which is the Indian anchovy, a small fish. The film is saying that one should not look down on the underdog.

According to V K Prakash, this is a whacky film based on the conflict between a writer and the character created by him. After a while, the character goes out of the writer's control and some incidents follow.

The film is a tribute to the vintage blockbuster Manjil Virinja Pookkal that turned out to be a crucial break for Mohanlal.

The characters here are Prem, Narendran and Prabha, which were the names of the characters in the earlier movie.

Fahadh is playing two roles in the film, as Prem, the caretaker of an apartment complex, and also as Narendran, who comes to stay there. Prabha (Kamalini Mukherji) lives in the apartment complex.

"All we can reveal about the story now is that this is a triangular love story, says Prakash.

Says Fahadh "I am looking forward to experiments like these. There have been reports that this story has been inspired from V K Prakash's earlier film Freaky Chakra, which is not true. The emotions are totally different here."

Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla is produced by Aji Medayil, Joe Kaithamattam and Christie Kaithamattam.

The cinematographer is Arun James and Abhijit scores the music.
