The Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor Love Story

Bollywood's golden couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are set to tie the knot today, October 16, after five years of much-publicised courtship.

Here's looking at how the glamorous actress and the Nawab of Pataudi met and fell in love.

The couple first shared screen space in J P Dutta's LOC Kargil in 2003 and later in Vishal Bhardwaj's 2006 film Omkara but had few scenes together in both the films.

While LOC Kargil had an ensemble cast, Kareena and Saif were cast opposite Ajay Devgn and Konkona Sen Sharma respectively in Omkara.

Saif split from his wife of 14 years Amrita Singh in 2004, and Kareena's three-year-old relationship with Shahid Kapoor ended during the shooting of Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met in 2007.

The former costars were united on the sets of Vijay Krishna Acharya's directorial debut Tashan in 2007, and sparks flew.

Kareena fell for the royal charms of her onscreen leading man.

The film, released in 2008, may have tanked at the box office but marked the beginning of one of the most closely followed love stories in Bollywood.

The couple made their first official public appearance at Manish Malhotra's show at the Lakme Fashion Week in 2007.

A dapper Saif escorted his glamorous girlfriend, holding her hand, amidst media glare.

Saif and Kareena starred in yet another film -- Rensil D'Silva's 2009 crime drama Kurbaan.

The couple's real life chemistry failed to replicate its magic onscreen.

The same year, Saif reportedly said in an interview that he intended to marry Kareena.

They held hands, as they sashayed down the catwalk.

Given their popularity and brand image as a couple, Saif and Kareena were roped in to do several commercials together for products like Head & Shoulders and Airtel DTH TV.

The couple usually makes joint appearances at social dos.

While Saif accompanied Kareena and her mother, yesteryear actress Babita for Christmas mass last year, the couple attended Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza's wedding together in February this year.

Ever since they got together, the couple has routinely made joint appearances at award shows.

At the 2010 IIFA awards held in Sri Lanka, Saif and Kareena were very much the smitten couple they were years ago.

Initially livid about disclosing her wedding plans, Kareena admitted that she'd be getting married this year around the time her film Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu was set to open in theatres in January.

She starred in Saif Ali Khan's home production Agent Vinod in March.

The couple did not officially announce their wedding date; it was Saif's mother Sharmila Tagore who first made the announcement.

The sangeet ceremony, held on October 14, was a closely guarded affair.
