Kavitta, who comes from an army background, did theatre before starting her career in Bollywood with this item song.

When told that most item girls cannot act, Kavitta defended them vehemently, saying: "Says who? Dancing is acting, right? Policegiri is the right beginning that I wanted."

"Sharing screen space with Sanju Baba (Sanjay Dutt) was very thrilling," Kavitta says. "The song is pretty much a dance number and audiences will love it."

"I am here to act. I am reading a few scripts and want to do something that will give me an adrenaline rush -- be it an item number or social drama or an action film," she says.

Policegiri is an action film directed by debutant K S Ravikumar and produced by T P Aggarwal.

A remake of the 2003 hot Tamil film Saamy, Policegiri will release on July 5.
