Jayasurya, Anoop Menon in David & Goliath

National award winning director Rajeev Nath (for the film Janani) is ready with David & Goliath, in which Jayasurya and Anoop Menon play the lead.

The two actors have been doing interesting films together, like Cocktail, Beautiful and Trivandrum Lodge and there are projects like Hotel California in the pipeline.

Anoop Menon has scripted the film.

"The story is happening at a hill station and zooms in on the lives of David (Jayasurya) and Sunny Ulahannan (Anoop Menon). While David is an orphan who grew up in a church, which in fact forms the backdrop of the film, Sunny is a rich businessman," says Rajeev Nath.

"We were planning a film titled Oru New York Sayahnam, which was to be shot in the US, but that story was not developing in a proper way. When Anoop narrated this plot, I was instantly attracted," says the director.

Anoop Menon says that this film is a modern-day interpretation of the biblical story of David and Goliath.

"Even in Ramayana and Mahabharata, stories like these were perhaps aimed at giving some genuine messages, with some inherent philosophies.

"Though the fights that we have come across in the world until now have been between the haves and the have-nots, there seems to be a paradigm shift in the power sources of the world.

"The powerful may have dominated earlier on but now it has reached a stage where the powerless is more advantageous. My interpretation is on this background," says Anoop.

Jayasurya says that "if Trivandrum Lodge revealed some dark truths, this one is about virtues. My character, David, is an innocent guy who is not formally educated but has some extraordinary skills."

An engineering graduate and an assistant director, Soumya makes her debut as the female lead. "I am playing Sharon, who has known David for several years now."

P Balachandran, Anumol, Lena and Sukumari are also in the film.

David & Goliath is produced by Salroza Motion Pictures in association with Line of Colors. 

Jithu Damodar has wielded the camera and the music composer is Ratheesh Vegha.
