Chitrangada Singh seems to be trying out a new image. From her glam cover shoot for Vogue to her sexy item girl look in Joker, Chitrangada has left her simple Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi look far behind.

She chats with Nithya Ramani about style, and much more.

You're on the cover of Vogue for the first time.

This is my first cover photoshoot. My first film was Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, which was all about substance. I think it was something I never thought I would, almost 10 years back.

I didn't plan my Bollywood career and I didn't want to be an actress. I didn't think I would be here. This was the first film that came my way and it went off very

What does style mean to you?

I wouldn't call myself stylish or brand-conscious.

Coming from an army background, I have always been in jeans and t-shirt. I would always prefer comfort to fashion. I will go for something that is classic and brings my personality out. I love the 1960s and 1970s and Audrey Hepburn. I am so glad that all of that is back. I would go for bling but that would be a push for me.

Has motherhood changed your look forwards style?

I don't think style changes because your size changes. I still dress in casuals as I used to earlier. Motherhood never changed the way I dressed. I would never dress down because I am a mother.

What are your wardrobe essentials?

You will find a lot of black, white and grey in my wardrobe. There will always be that white shirt or t-shirt and those blue jeans what I wear most often. I would have a black dress of course. That is a must.

What would be your killer outfit for the red carpet?

I would like to wear something that is structured -- a floor length lavish, gorgeous gown. I like something that is fitting and which accentuates my assets, something sensuous and sexy.

'I don't mind gaining weight for a film'

How far would you go for a film role?

In my next film, you will see me in a very short hair because I play a stern corporate woman. Maybe I would gain some weight for a film, but the role has to mean more than the weight gain for me.

I love Vidya Balan for whatever she has done. She is very inspiring and if there is anything like that, I would give it a shot.

Has there been any one film that was a turning point in your career?

My first film. I don't think people have forgotten Geeta Rao (her character in Hazaaron Kwaishein Aisi) and remembered another role I've played. That is still the most special one for me.

'My next film is set around a sexual harassment case'

Could you tell us about your forthcoming films?

My next film is I, Me Aur Main with John Abraham and Prachi Desai. It is a film about relationships, where the man is not committed to the relationship he is in and what the lady then does. My role is a little complex -- she is a weak yet strong person but in a dilemma because of complexity of her character.

My second film is a very strange love story with Arjun Rampal, directed by Sudhir Mishra. It is set around a sexual harassment case, about people who were in love but now stuck in a weird situation.
