Get your low down on what's happening in the world of Hollywood, right here!

American actress Rooney Mara has bagged the lead role in the forthcoming film The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Mara beat out a host of others, including British starlet Carey Mulligan to land the part.

Mara, 25, will play Lisbeth Salander, a fearless genius tormented by a terrible childhood, in the crime thriller based on the first book in Stieg Larsson's bestselling series, reports the Telegraph.

Daniel Craig has been cast as journalist Mikael Blomkvist, who teams up with Salander to delve into a string of decades-old murders.

David Fincher, who brought Fight Club to the big screen, is directing the film and he is said to have wanted an unknown actress.

The film begins shooting next month in Sweden and is due out in December 2011.

Julia Roberts is set to receive a prestigious acting award at an upcoming film festival in Spain.

The Pretty Woman star has enjoyed a lengthy movie career dating back to the 1980s, reports the Daily Star.

And now, bosses at the San Sebastian International Film Festival have decided to recognise her contribution to Hollywood.

The actress will be honoured with the Donostia Award in a lavish ceremony on September 20.

Previous recipients of the honour include Richard Gere, as well as Sir Ian McKellen, Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep.

Lindsay Lohan out or rehab?

If sources are to be believed, then Lindsay Lohan will indeed be getting out of the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital as early as this week.

Sources say that Lohan's doctors have not written their final report, but they have already concluded her psychiatric problems are not nearly as severe as first thought, reports TMZ.

It was earlier indicated that the Mean Girls star was bipolar but that proved not to be the case.

In addition, the doctors do not believe the drug dependency issues are as severe as first thought.

It was also reported that Lohan had big issues with Adderall, but the docs don't think it requires much more inpatient care.

The judge must approve early release. Once the doctors write their final report, Lindsay's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, can go back into court and ask the judge to spring her client from her 90-day rehab sentence.

If the medical professionals think releasing her is a good idea, the judge will almost certainly go along with it.
