Kerala is celebrating Onam in style and it's a superbusy season for the movie world too. Though every big star in the business makes it a point to have a release during this period, this year the equations were affected by some unprecedented happenings.
The shooting of Mammootty's The King & The Commissioner and Dileep's Mr.Marumakan had to be stopped midway due to various reasons. Subsequently both the stars didn't have any new releases for this festive season.
During the Ramzan fasting period, the theatres in the strong Malabar area had a deserted look but things are looking up again, when the state is celebrating the biggest festival of the season.
This year, Blessy's Pranayam with Mohanlal, Anupam Kher and Jayaprada in the lead, Dipu Karunakaran's Tejabhai & Family and the new version of Jijo's My Dear Kuttichathan 3D have already hit the screens.
Three more films will join the fray for the big battle during Onam this week. Here's a look at the three.
Sevenes
Director: Joshiy
With some of the prominent names from the young crop of heroes in the cast, Joshiy's Sevenes is one of the favourites for the season. The main cast includes Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Nadia Moidu, Bhama, Rima Kallingal, Nivin Pauly, Vineeth Kumar and Rajith Menon among others.
The film has been scripted by Dr.Iqbal Kuttippuram, whose last script was the much appreciated Arabikkatha. The story of Sevenes is set in Malabar, with football as the backdrop.

The grapevine has it that Asif Ali will play the narrator of this love saga.
Debutant director K Biju, who is also the scenarist, has roped a group of youngsters for the film's cast. Ananya is the other heroine in the movie.

Jayaram's Onam release will be a laugh riot titled Ulakam Chuttum Vaaliban, which is a confusion drama.
Director Raj Babu has hits like Chess and Kangaroo to his credit and he hopes to make this comedy work, with Krishna Poojappura's script.
Jayaram plays a villager, who comes to the city under some peculiar circumstances. Vandana plays the heroine. The cast also includes Mithra Kurian and Biju Menon.
Jayaram's Onam release will be a laugh riot titled Ulakam Chuttum Vaaliban, which is a confusion drama.
