Stars pay tribute to Jagjit Singh

The Hindi film industry mourned the loss of veteran ghazal singer Jagjit Singh, who passed away this morning, on twitter.

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted: 'The sonorous silk voice of Jagjit Singh silent now !! A great loss to the world of music and Ghazal .. Prayers and condolences.'

Ameesha Patel, who considered the singer as her godfather, reminisced about the evening they had spent together last year. 'Just last year. What a beautiful evening this was,' she wrote with the picture (left). 

Priyanka Chopra, who was in Chennai for a promotional event, wrote: 'Just landed into Mumbai 2 the shocking news of Jagjit Singh's demise.What a loss for us all.He was an institution & will b sorely missed.RIP'

Shabana Azmi tweeted: 'Kisi ki nazar lag gayi hai kala ki duniya ko..jagjit singh no more. His contribution to the ghazal in India is unparallelled. big loss.'

Director Mahesh Bhatt thanked him for his movie Arth. 'My film ARTH would not have touched the hearts of millions of people without the contribution of Jagjit Singh. Thank you friend. Thank you!' he wrote.

Karan Johar tweeted: 'I grew up listening to the brilliance of Jagjit Singh..my mother was a big fan and then made me one...RIP sir!!! Loss of a true legend.'

Singer Shreya Ghoshal tweeted: 'Jagjit Ji passes away. One of the saddest day for all us music lovers. The golden voice will not sing anymore. Rest in peace.'

Madhur Bhandarkar was shocked to hear the news. 'Terribly shocked to hear the sad demise of Jagjit Singhji, in u i have lost a dear friend, yr soulful songs will remain till eternity,' he updated.

Preity Zinta wrote: 'May god give peace to Mr. Jagjit Singh's soul ! He was the king of poetry & soulful music; He will live in our hearts forever.... R.I.P'

Lara Dutta tweeted: 'Very saddened to hear of the demise of Jagjit singh! May his soul rest in peace.'

Shah Rukh Khan launches Ra.One in Tamil

Shah Rukh Khan launched the trailer of Ra.One in Tamil and Telugu.

The actor tweeted: 'In Chennai...overwhelmed by the lov shown by mani rathnam, santosh sevan. Soundarya &Rajini sir. Launch of Ra.one in tamil, grateful to all.'

Arjun Rampal, who was present at the launch, wrote: 'So much been happening,working round the clock, today Rajni sir unveiled the first look of Ra 1 the character super excited. in chennai.'

Meanwhile, singer Chinmayi, who sang the song Bhare Naina in Tamil/Telugu, informed that Shah Rukh speaks fantastic Tamil. 'Ok Shah Rukh Khan looks great. And Suhasini maam says he can speak fantastic Tamil. :)' she wrote.

In the past, Shah Rukh had dubbed his own voice in Tamil for Hey! Ram.
