As Riteish Deshmukh and Genelai D'Souza get ready to tie the knot today, we browse through some of Bollywood's popular wedding songs.

Hindi Films are all about grandeur and celebrations. So it's only natural they play host to numerous opulent weddings. And what's a big screen wedding without song and dance?

From Nargis serene admission, Raja ki aayegi baraat (Aah), Rajesh Khanna's merry, baaja-themed romp on Meri pyari behaniya banegi dulhania (Sachcha Jhoota) to Shatrughan Sinha's affectionate crooning, Aaj mere yaar ki shaadi hai (Aadmi Sadak Ka) and Shashi Kapoor's defiant declaration, Le jayenge le jayenge dilwale dulhania le jayenge (Chor Machaye Shor), wedding songs have enjoyed a precious place in our movies.

As actors Ritiesh Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza prepare to settle down in matrimony on February 3, here's browsing through some of Bollywood's more recent and most popular wedding songs.

Band baaja baarat, Band Baaja Baarat

The title says it all.

Given the film's plot revolves around two wedding planners, one would expect nothing less than some dazzling shaadi music. And Salim-Sulaiman's title song delivers to the T.

Another wedding-themed rom-com, Tanu Weds Manu was high on newcomer Krsna's lilting score.

And the festive notes of Sadi gali bear testimony to this fact.

Trust Salman Khan to march on the historic lanes of London in a bright orange sherwani, accompanied by a huge crowd of colourfully clad extras, against Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's bouncy track, Tainu leke. 

Karan Johar isn't the current-day showman for nothing.

The man's signature splendour and style is written all over Kal Ho Naa Ho's rocking sangeet ditty, Mahi ve.

Even international filmmaker couldn't escape the allure of the big, fat Indian wedding.

Apart from a skilful use of Biwi No 1's Chunari chunari, it features Sukhwinder Singh's marvelous rendition of Aaj mera jee karda.

The opulence, frolic and verve in Kajol, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's enthusiastic jig to the celebratory Saajan ji ghar aaye continues to regale.

A R Rahman has quite a few wedding tracks to his credit, which capture the local flavour and essence of it subject -- like Sasural genda phool (Dilli 6), Chalka re (Saathiya) and Banno rani (1947: Earth) but it's Zubeidaa's Mehendi hai rachne wali that invariably finds a prominent spot in every mehendi ceremony.

Speaking of mehendi, can DDLJ be far behind?

Aditya Chopra's epic debut as director celebrates romance, relationships and fun Punjabi wedding rituals through Raj and Simran's exquisite camaraderie.

And this joie de vivre is accurately captured in Mehendi lagake rakhna.

Often dubbed as a wedding album of a movie, Sooraj Barjatya's Hum Aapke Hain Koun...!  is largely credited for changing the portrayal of weddings on big screen and off it.

Among its many festive numbers is the amusing Joote tussle track showcasing Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit at their go-getter best.

And how can any story about weddings be complete without the mention of Yash Chopra?

The man who can make anything look like a photogenic dream loves to include resplendent sangeet songs in his movies.

But none can hold a candle to Sridevi's jhatkas in Shiv Hari's Mere haathon mein nau nau. Twenty three years old yet still going strong.
