PIX: Aamir Khan joins the TIME club

Aamir Khan has become the latest Indian celebrity to feature on the cover of American weekly magazine TIME.

The photograph is followed by the caption 'Khan Quests' and a blurb that asks if Khan is poised to break the Bollywood mould and actually bring about change with his television show Satyamev Jayate.

The show, which had 13 episodes, probed into social evils like female infanticide, dowry and honour killings.

Before him, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had assumed her place of pride on the TIME cover in 2003, fresh from the buzz she created at the Cannes Film Festival.

She flaunts just a hint of cleavage and appears to be sans makeup on the cover.

Yesteryear actress Parveen Babi, one of the most glamorous lead heroines of her time, was the first Indian film celebrity who made it to the TIME cover back in July 1976.

With Babi dressed in a bejewelled blouse and her dark hair left loose, the cover got that mystic aura and exoticism that Indian films were known for spot on.
