It isn't easy to scare people, especially when audiences today are exposed to superlative horror movies from across the world.

The trailer begins with news stories blaring how a ship has docked at Mumbai's Juhu beach and strangely, there's no one on it.
Supervising officer Vicky Kaushal checks out the boat, which reeks of all things spooky.
There's the usual female ghost crawling the walls, a young couple getting brutalised by the ghost and a hallucinating hero.
Horror movies seem to be at the mercy of jump scares, but Bhoot's trailer doesn't make you jump at all.
The scene where Vicky is seen having a good time with his family which suddenly disappears is noteworthy, but that's it.
Ram Gopal Varma's Bhoot did a far better job at scaring the daylights out of viewers.
Vicky is known for his acting chops, so let's hope he saves the day.
There are reports that the story takes inspiration from a ship which washed ashore in Mumbai many years ago.
Apparently, the officials did not detect it when it entered Indian waters and only found out when it appeared off the Mumbai coast. If that is true, Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship may have more horrors up its sleeve when it releases on February 21.

The dark sinister tint through the trailer is nice. It says more about the genre than the proceedings.
Given the way Netflix's Ghost Stories was received, let's hope the film has more scares than what is shown in the trailer.
