Kamal Haasan's Dasavathaaram has been postponed by a week. It will now release on June 13.
"It is because of the delay in making 1,000 prints," says 'Oscar' Ravichandran, the film's producer. "The lab can print only 45 prints a day, and we need more than 1,000 prints."
He has also assured that there will not be any more delays. "Advertisements declaring the [release] date will appear in newspapers on Sunday," he added.
On May 29, the Madras High Court dismissed two petitions against the film. The petitioners had alleged that the film contained scenes that offended Hindus. The court also opined that there was no Intellectual Property Rights involved in the use of the title, Dasavathaaram.
Ravichandran has also changed the name of his production house from Oscar to Aasacar when the name faced problems.
On being asked why he chose June 13 to release the film, he replied, "I feel 13 is a lucky number for me. I released Vanathepol on January 13, and it was a super duper hit."
He seems sure that June 13 will also prove lucky for Dasavathaaram.
