A scene from sringaravelanSringaravelan plot’s wanders on aimlessly with no logic. You just have to go with the flow of the comedy, which gets quite boring towards the end says Paresh C Palicha

To cash in on the annual Onam festival, half a dozen films have already released among them is the mass entertainer Sringaravelan with Dileep in the lead.

His trusted team of director Jos Thomas and writer duo Siby K Thomas- Udayakrishna is on board this time too.

As expected, the emphasis is on humour. No thought is given to the plausibility of the plot.

Kannan (Dileep) comes from a traditional weaver family and is professionally qualified as a fashion designer. He is ashamed of his family's legacy and wants to get rich easily.

He is supported by his friend Vasu (Kalabhavan Shajon) in his quest for a quick fix formula for success. The scene is set for the 'gag a minute' kind of narrative.

The entry of Yeshu (Lal), a small-time goon, brings us to the main plot of the film. His

idea of getting rich quickly is to marry a rich girl. Kannan goes along with this and meets up with a royal heiress (Vedhika).

Her father DGP (Joy Mathew) is an underworld don in Mumbai, who wants her to marry and fly off to the USA.

The plot wanders on aimlessly with no logic. You just have to go with the flow of the comedy, which gets quite boring towards the end.

Not much is demanded of Dileep; he just has to be himself. He remains in safe territory with his brand of humour, ably supported by Kalabhavan Shajon and Lal, who share the responsibility delivering lines that are expected to bring the house down.

There’s no point discussing whether Vedhika has talent because she has hardly anything to do.

Joy Mathew seems out of place as the underworld don; he gives the impression of not approving what he is supposed to do here.

Sringaralven is a commodity made for a specific reason. It makes no bones about being a crass comedy that caters to the non-thinking section of the audience.
