Pallakki tells the story of a fun-loving, irresponsible individual turning into a serious, hard-working professional, all in the name of love. Director Narendra Babu has tried to create a good blend of love and emotion, seen in everyday life. But unfortunately we have seen it before, and that too many times.
Babu also appears hell bent on ending the film on a tragic note, following the trend set by recent hits like Mungaru Male and Duniya. In short, the film does not offer anything fresh; every sequence looks predictable.
The film has a predictable story, and the two halves of the film present the hero in contrasting styles, but on expected lines. The director has relied more on the songs and Prem's charismatic appeal among the younger audience. Though cinematographer Mahesh Thalakaadu has done his best in picturising the song sequences, his attempts at capturing the emotional mood of the sequences are disappointing.
The story revolves around irresponsible youngster Lakshmi, who feels enjoying life and falling in love with a girl are more important than doing something for the family, which is in tatters. All the advice from his elders falls onto deaf years. A transformation takes place when his lady love rejects his offer of love, asking him to understand the realities of life. He decides to move on and become a better individual. He wants to save his love, but he is in for a shock.
Prem, who had back-to-back hits in Nenapirali and Jothe Jotheyalli looks fabulous in the song sequences, but falls short in emotional sequences. Rumanithu Chowdhary from Punjab, who debuts in this film, is just passable. And it is recommended that she watch her weight. Sharan, Bullet Prakash do well as Prem's friends, but nothing special can be said of the other character artists. The music by Guru Kiran is good.
Pallakki does have some good moments but lacks freshness and grace.
