The Superstar takes 2.0 to Dubai and reveals a few secrets. Akshay Kumar, A R Rahman, Shankar and Amy Jackson follow.
Rajinikanth's new film 2.0 is all set for a grand music launch in Dubai today.
The superstar has already reached the venue, along with his team -- Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, A R Rahman, director Shankar and producer Allirajah Subaskaran.
And he's confident that the magnum opus sci-fi thriller, with a budget of ₹400 crore, will be the most prestigious Indian film ever.
'It will appeal to both global and Indian audiences. Shankar has a nice social message for everyone in the film,' Rajinikanth told reporters at a press conference in Dubai.
Rajinikanth looks dramatically different in real life, as compared to what he looks like in the movies.
He explains why: 'I don't want to act in real life because no one pays me to act off-screen!'
Akshay, who plays the antagonist in the film, says he had a completely different experience working in 2.0.
'I've never done a role like this in my entire career. I have never seen anyone doing a character like this. It was a whole new experience to play the role of an anti-hero.'
Akshay adds that Shankar is not just a filmmaker but also a scientist with a grand vision.
2.0 is not a extension of his 2010 blockbuster Enthiran/ Robot, says Shankar.
'It's a new film with a new format and a new message. But audiences will get to see their favourite characters from Enthiran here. We have tried to convey a message which is global. Everyone will be able to connect with it.'
Shankar insists 2.0 is not a copy of a Hollywood film. The the film follows a Hollywood format only in scale and vision.
Amy Jackson adds, 'I was always on my toes from day one. Shankar is a great filmmaker and it's my second film with him. I had a whale of a time working on this project.'
The music launch will take place at the Burj Park in downtown Dubai.
2.0, produced by Lyca Productions, is slated to release on January 25.
