Three Tamil movies coming up this weekend: Jil Jung Juk, Anjala and Vil Ambu.
Six weeks into 2016, and we have already seen 25 Tamil film releases!
The fight for screens intensifies this week, as three more films join the long list of movies crowding theatres.
Here's taking a closer look at the releases.
Jil Jung Juk
Director: Deeraj Vaidy
Cast: Siddharth, Sananth Reddy, Avinash Raghudevan
Siddharth’s quirky titled-film Jil Jung Juk has generated a lot of interest since its trailer release a month ago.
Directed by Deeraj Vaidy, the film also stars Sananth Reddy and Avinash Raghudevan. Interestingly, the film has no heroine.
Music by Vishal Chandrashekhar is a huge hit, especially the Shoot the Kuruvi number sung by Anirudh Ravichander.
Siddharth produces the film under the Etaki Entertainment banner. This will be his second production venture after 2012's hugely successful Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi.
Vil Ambu
Director: Ramesh Subramaniam
Cast: Sri, Harish Kalyan, Samskruthy Shenoy and Srushti Dange
Newcomer Ramesh Subramaniam makes his directorial debut with Vil Ambu.
The film is produced by National award-winning director Suseenthiran of Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai fame.
A thriller, the film is said to expose the role of society in influencing a person’s life.
Harish Kalyan, who was seen in Poriyalan, and Sri of Vazhakku Enn 18/9 fame play the lead. The film has music by Navin.
Anjala
Director: Thangam Saravanan
Cast: Vimal, Nandita and Pasupathy
Stunt choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan debuts as producer with the romantic comedy Anjala.
The film is directed by Thangam Saravanan and features Vimal and Nandita of Attakathi fame. Pasupathy, Imman Annachi, Aadukalam Murugadoss and Subbu Panchu essay significant roles.
The film was in the news when its promotional song Tea Podu (featuring a galaxy of Tamil stars including Jayam Ravi, Sivakarthikeyan, Karthi, Vijay Sethupathi and Jiiva) faced plagiarism charges by an independent music band Mami Boys, who alleged that the song was a rip-off of their 2013 released Dum Tea.
