A look at the fresh faces in Bollywood that stood out this year!
The year 2014 wasn't particularly kind to debutants.
There were a large number of new entrants in Bollywood, but few managed to replicate the debut successes of Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra, Alia Bhatt and the likes.
Take a look:
Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon (Heropanti)
Box office collection: Rs 50 crore
Many people were surprised by Sajid Nadiadwala's decision to launch newcomers -- he is known to mostly works with established names like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.
However, his Heropanti gamble paid off.
Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon were appreciated as the lead pair in the film helmed by Sabbir Khan, who was making a comeback as a director after Kambakkth Ishq.
The film was a musical success too.
Freddy Daruwala (Holiday)
Box office collection: Rs 112 crore
Daruwala made quite an impression as a villain in his debut turn.
The youngster, who had played a cameo in the largely unheard of film Mummyji, proved that he could hold his own in a star vehicle.
Himansh Kohli, Rakul Preet Singh (Yaariyaan)
Box office collection: Rs 38 crore
Divya Khosla Kumar's directorial debut was the biggest surprise of the year. Not many gave it a chance because it featured an all-new cast.
The songs topped charts too.
The look and feel of the film appealed to the young crowd, and Himansh Kohli and Rakul Preet Singh stood out.
Tahir Raj Bhasin (Mardaani)
Box office collection: Rs 35 crore
Tahir Raj Bhasin was the surprise element in Rani Mukerji starrer Mardaani.
He made a very good impression in every scene that he appeared in.
He had appeared in cameos in Kai Po Che, One By Two and Kismat Love Paisa Dilli.
The youngster seems set for a long stint in Bollywood.
Fawad Khan (Khoobsurat)
Box office collection: Rs 30 crore
One of the best debuts of 2014 came with Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.
Khan, who already had a considerable fan base in India courtesy his TV show Zindagi Gulzar Hai, was appreciated in Khoobsurat.
The film turned out to be a decent success too.
Humaima Malick (Raja Natwarlal)
Box office collection: Rs 29 crore
Though Raja Natwarlal wasn't a box office success, Pakistani actress Humaima Malick made her presence felt in this Emraan Hashmi starrer.
Her performance got mixed reviews, especially from those who had seen her deliver a class act in Bol.
But this was her foray into commercial cinema and one waits to see what she delivers next.
Surveen Chawla (Hate Story 2)
Box office collection: Rs 28 crore
She was active in regional cinema, but this was television actress Surveen Chawla’s first full-fledged role as leading lady in a Hindi film.
She gave an uninhibited performance in Hate Story 2.
Apart from the bold portrayal, her acting garnered praise too.
Sonali Raut, Zoya Afroz (The Xposé)
Box office collection: Rs 20 crore
It was uncertain what kind of role a leading lady would play in a Himesh Reshammiya film.
But Sonali Raut and Zoya Afroz turned up in meaty roles in The Xpose.
Mohit Marwah, Kiara Advani, Vijender Singh, Arfi Lamba (Fugly)
Box office collection: Rs 15 crore
Fugly marked the debut of Mohit Marwah, Kiara Advani, Vijender Singh and Arfi Lamba (who has appeared in cameo roles before).
Each actor had a distinct character in this ensemble comedy. One now waits to see what these youngsters have to offer in future films.
Sharib Hashmi (Filmistaan)
Box office collection: Rs 7 crore
Sharib Hashmi made an adorable start in a lead role with Filmistaan.
He had a small part in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jab Tab Hai Jaan, but Filmistaan can be considered his debut film.
His performance was widely appreciated and interesting roles can be expected of him in the future.
