November usually sees Bollywood's biggest releases, courtesy Diwali.

This month will be no different, as the mega movies line up after Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi.

Joginder Tuteja looks back at how successful the 11th month of the year has been for Hindi cinema.

Bala, 2019
Box office collection: Rs 117 crore

Ayushmann Khurranna has developed a nose for picking up interesting scripts, which tell entertaining stories.

After his 2018 release Badhaai Ho, he scored a superhit with Dream Girl.

Bala was the ideal follow-up as the film went on to be yet another major superhit.

2.0, 2018
Box office collection: Rs 189.55 crore

Rajinikanth's Robot sequel saw Akshay Kumar step in as the antagonist.

Budgeted at over Rs 500 crore, the film was expected to score across languages and this is where the contribution from the Hindi version came really handy.

The film almost came close to hitting a double century and was a clean superhit at the box office.

Tumhari Sulu, 2017
Box office collection: Rs 36.15 crore

Surprisingly, November 2017 was rather quiet, with hardly any major Bollywood releases.

There were expectations from the Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna starrer Ittefaq to score well at the box office, but it fell short.

Still, Vidya Balan's Tumhari Sulu did well.

Dear Zindagi, 2016
Box office collection: Rs 68 crore

Dear Zindagi was a slice-of-life niche film starring Alia Bhatt, with Shah Rukh Khan putting in an extended special appearance.

The Gauri Shinde directed film was meant for urban multiplex audiences.

It opened well (at Rs 8.75 crore) and grew over the weeks to emerge a clean hit.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, 2015
Box office collection: Rs210 cr ore

With Prem Ratan Dhan Payo releasing on Diwali, November 2015 turned out to be huge, as the family drama worked well at the A, B and C centres.

Hit music by Himesh Reshammiya ensured that the Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor film found added enough visibility.

Post theatrical release, the film did quite well on its satellite premiere as well.

Kill Dil, 2014
Box office collection: Rs 35 crore

In the last 10 years (barring 2020, which was hit by the pandemic), Kill Dil remains the lowest grossing November release.

There were a lot of expectations from this Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and Ali Zafar-starrer romantic drama where Govinda stepped in as the antagonist.

But audiences gave the Shaad Ali directorial a miss.

Krrish 3, 2013
Box office collection: Rs 244.92 crore

After Koi... Mil Gaya attained blockbuster status and its sequel Krrish fared even better, the stakes sky-rocketed for Krrish 3.

Film-maker Rakesh Roshan mounted the project on a lavish scale, and the sci-fi film was a novel experience for Indian audiences.

Rajesh Roshan's chartbuster music added family appeal to the Hrithik Roshan-Priyanka Chopra film.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan, 2012
Box office collection: Rs 122 crore

Jab Tak Hai Jaan was the biggest hit of November 2012, more so since it was Yash Chopra's last film.

The film-maker had picked up the baton of direction after a breakm but unfortunately, he passed away with a small portion of the film still unfinished.

His elder son Aditya Chopra completed the Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma starrer.

While the film got mixed reviews, it was also impacted commercially by the Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt starrer Son of Sardaar, which was a clean hit.

Rockstar, 2011
Box office collection: Rs 67.50 crore

It would be exactly 10 years since the release of Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar.

With one of Ranbir Kapoor's career best performances, the film -- with Nargis Fakhri as the leading lady -- boasted of chartbuster A R Rahman music.

At its release, the film was a decent hit at the box office.

Golmaal 3, 2010
Box office collection: Rs 106 crore

Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty like to release their Golmaal franchise on Diwali and that's what made 2010 special. Golmaal 3 released and became an instant superhit.

It was a rib-tickling outing for family audiences across all age groups.
