Shruti Indira Lakshminarayana reviews the Kannada movie, Chiru. Post YOUR reviews here!
Chiru (Cheeranjivi Sarja) is a happy-go-lucky guy, at least until he comes to Bangalore where he runs into Madhu (Kriti), the daughter of the state Home Minister. Following a prediction by an astrologer, the minister is out to find out if Madhu is in love. She is in love alright but is Chiru the man of her life like her father believes, or is it just that Chiru is at the wrong place at the wrong time?
Chiru is your run of the mill love story. The first half races by while the second half drags. You even come across a few DDLJ style railway station scenes. It also comes with some philosophy coated dialogues which bore you. Scenes where the heroine goes on distributing flowers to early morning walkers just to give them gyan about
how they should keep smiling is also a little too over the top.
Songs barring Ille ille ello nanna manasu.... are just okay. Some of them even come with beats and music that you have heard before.
Bullet Prakash's act as a politician's sidekick is entertaining. Scenes where he and Chiranjeevi appear tickle your funny bone.
Fights, especially the one where the hero fights the baddies with the heroine beside him is sure to please Chiranjeevi's fans. The leading man is best in fight sequences. While he could have shown more zest in his characterisation in the first half, he adds more life to his role in the second half.
Kirti has bagged a role that doesn't confine her to songs alone. The debutant has enough scope for performance.
Rangayana Raghu breaks free from his comic acts in this film and plays a concerned father. He carries off the role with ease. Kiran Sreenivas has a meaty role too.
Watch Chiru if you have nothing else planned for the weekend.
