Best Supporting Actor, Jolly LLB
I am absolutely elated about winning the National Award. It came as a big surprise to me, as I wasn’t aware that the awards are being announced today.
In fact, I didn’t even know that the production house had sent my name for the awards. My family and friends are really happy for me.
In the 20 years of my career, I have always received critical appreciation for my performances but this was the first year when I won the Screen Award for Jolly LLB. And now I won the National Awards!
It’s like a dream come true.
I am also happy that Jolly LLB won the Best Film.

Best Direction, Shahid
It’s a prestigious honour to win the National Awards.
It’s a recognition of all the hard work put in by the entire Shahid team.
I had completely forgotten that I had applied for the National Awards and that they were going to be announced today.
I was busy with my next film Citylights in the mixing room and as a result my phone was switched off.
I came out of the room to take a break when I was suddenly bombarded with congratulatory messages and missed calls from family and friends.
It’s a really proud feeling!
