Armaan Jain gets ready for his first Hindi film, and puts up a stage show to prove it.
“He is a new kid. Please be kind to him! It is unfair to compare him with Ranbir,” Kareena Kapoor, looking stunning in a sari, told mediapersons assembled at Mumbai’s JW Marriott hotel.
She was talking about her cousin Armaan Jain, who had just given his first stage performance with the maestro himself, A R Rahman.
Jain is all set to make his movie debut in the upcoming film, Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, releasing July 4.

Most of the Kapoor khandaan turned up to support him -- grandmother Krishna Raj Kapoor, his parents Reema and Mohan Jain, uncles Rishi, Randhir and Rajiv Kapoor, aunt Neetu Kapoor and cousins Kareena and Karisma Kapoor.
They applauded, whistled and also swayed enthusiastically to the songs performed at the concert.
Lekar Hum Deewana Dil has been directed by Imtiaz Ali’s brother Arif Ali, and co-produced by Saif Ali Khan and Dinesh Vijan’s Illuminati Films and Eros.

It may be his first stage performance but it was a confident one.
Armaan impressed the audiences with his dancing skills, as he performed on Mawaali Kawaali from his film.
“I am happy and overwhelmed to be here,” Armaan admitted on stage.

Instead of the mike, Rahman took to the piano for the evening.
His singers -- Shweta Pandit, Jonita Gandhi, Hriday Gattani and Shiraz Uppal - charmed the audience with their voices.
The finale act saw Armaan and his Lekar Hum Deewana Dil co-star Deeksha Seth dance to Khalifa.

Neetu Singh seemed especially excited about the film’s title, as it has been taken from a song in the film, Yaadon Ki Baarat, in which she had featured.
“The song holds a very special place in my heart. When I learnt that Armaan's film was titled Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, I was super excited,” she beamed.

Imtiaz Ali attended the concert to lend support to his younger brother Arif Ali, who makes his directorial debut here.
“I have always known that my brother is more talented (than me). This doesn’t only make me nervous but also scared that I have a competition at home! I am sure he has done a better job than I would,” he says.

Karan Johar also turned up, as Armaan had worked as an assistant director on Dharma Production’s My Name Is Khan, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and Student Of The Year before he started his acting career.
“I have a long relationship with the Kapoor family, and Armaan has worked with me, so it feels like my own child is making his debut. I am really happy about Armaan’s launch,” he said.
“I had suggested the title Lekar Hum Deewana Dil to Saif Ali Khan and Dinesh Vijan (co-producers of the film). So I am here to stake my claim for it!” he added with a laugh.
