Hrithik slams rumours surrounding Krrish 3 box office figures

While speculation about the estimated business of Krrish 3 have been doing the rounds for a while now, its lead actor Hrithik Roshan has decided to speak up against the rumours surrounding the movie.

He slammed reports that his producer-director father Rakesh Roshan inflated the box office figures of the film and reiterated that the superhero film has indeed earned Rs 244 crore in India and Rs 55 crore overseas.

'Some from the industry and certain sections of the media are hell bent on putting me, my father and Krrish 3 down. I have maintained my silence until now but these derogatory manipulations need to stop.

'Krrish 3 has done a business of about Rs 244 crore in India and around 55 crore overseas. I wonder who these people are who have been so affected by these numbers and my success,' Hrithik posted on his Facebook page.

The actor also wondered whether the rumours were started by his so-called friends in the industry but did not take any names.

'Are they the ones I call my friends I wonder? I would like to tell them that they need not ever be insecure about another man's success because all they need to do is concentrate on their own hard work which in turn will help them achieve what they want.

'Believe in karma. As my father and I do. And one last thing about my father and me as a team -- we have only just begun,' he wrote.

Krrish 3 hit theatres on November 1 last year and was among the top earning films of 2013.

Akshay Kumar, who was set to act in Karan Johar's home production Gutka, has opted out of it. Instead, the two stars will collaborate in another film together.

There was buzz that Akshay was not happy with the way Gutka was shaping up.

'We are making a film with Akshay for sure. The subject is going through some changes. And we will make the announcement soon,' Karan said.

Earlier, director Punit Malhotra had said he was working on film titled Gutka, but it is far from completion right now.

'It is a very different film, it is a full on drama film. It's a shift for me also. It's a hard hitting drama film,' Punit had said.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar says Gunday was the last script that late Yash Chopra heard and the upcoming film is somewhat inspired by the legendary filmmaker's hits, Kaala Patthar and Deewar.

The film is based in Kolkata during the restive times of the 1970s and deals with the inseparable life of Bikram and Bala (Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor respectively), who grow from being small-time coal thieves to the most powerful black marketing mafia men.

Produced by Aditya Chopra, Gunday is slated to release worldwide on February 14.

'It is a special film for all four of us. This was the last script great Yash Chopra heard. He loved the script and believed in it. It is somewhere in lot of what inspired by his films Kaala Patthar... Deewar, it is set in the time when he was making films,' Ali said.

'We hope we can do justice to it. We want to dedicate the film to him. For us, every film is a journey... we had a great time making it,' he added.

The promos of the film reminds one of Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha in Kaala Patthar.

On this, Ali says, 'It's a big compliment for all of us. The whole film is set in Kolkata... it starts in 1971 after the war. One of the reasons of the war was lot of illegal immigration happening in the country from Bangladesh.

'The backdrop is the most important thing in a story. In 1970s-80s black marketing was a huge thing and coal was a major part of black marketing. That is why I chose to have the backdrop of coal,' he added.

But Ali insists the film has a larger issue than just coal. Considering the last film that released under YRF banner was Dhoom 3 and is doing phenomenal business, there are huge expectations from the next.

'Any director would want the film to do well. There is a lot of pressure that builds on and we hope the film entertains you,' he added.
