Hey! Emraan Hashmi doesn't watch Bollywood films.
If you follow Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan every season, you probably know the best episodes feature Bollywood stars who aren't the congenial host's friends.
Emraan Hashmi, who has (almost) shed the 'serial kisser' monicker and is easing into newfound stardom post the critical success of Shanghai and box office hits like Murder 2 and the Jannat films, made for an interesting watch for different reasons.
While he refused to give in to KJo's gentle badgering and reveal more than we know about his personal life, his several mouth-offs with uncle Mahesh Bhatt and collected demeanour came as a refreshing change.
Speaking of refreshing, how many people would dare to acknowledge their families' dysfunctionality with such boisterousness and on national television, no less?
If they're having so much fun with it, it surely can't be as bad as we make it seem, right?
On that note, read on to see the five little known things Emraan Hashmi revealed about himself.

1. His family's reaction to Murder

While Emraan cleverly sidestepped all questions about his high school sweetheart Parveen Shahani, who he is married to now, he did reveal how she and his grandmother reacted when they watched Murder with him.
While Parveen, who apparently didn't know that the film was an erotic thriller, dug her fingers in Emraan's arms with anxiety, his grandmum spent the film's entire runtime making disapproving tsk tsk sounds from the back.
By the end of it, the actor had several jabs on his wrist, he revealed on the show.
2. Doesn't watch Bollywood films
Image: Emraan Hashmi in Koffee With KaranEmraan, who is known for his 'massy' films, ironically doesn't watch Hindi films.
The Bandra Boy said he hadn't watched many Bollywood movies when he was growing up, and that didn't change after he joined showbiz.
He's glad, he added, he doesn't watch Hindi films, as that made his films more individualistic.
3. His best and worst onscreen kiss
Image: Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat in MurderAsked about his best and worst onscreen kiss in the rapid fire round, Emraan picked Murder 2 -- costarring Jacqueline Fernandez -- as his best simply because it featured the maximum number of liplocks of his career.
His worst kiss was with Mallika Sherawat in Murder.
4. Origins of the serial kisser
Image: Emraan Hashmi and Mahesh Bhatt on Koffee With KaranEmraan's filmmaker uncle and mentor Mahesh Bhatt recalled the origin of the serial kisser tag.
While Bhatt was unabashed in his admission that titillating content in all Bhatt films have earned his bro Mukesh and him a lot of money, he also mentioned that Emraan was never comfortable with his serial kisser tag.
When Awarapan, a crime thriller (without any kisses) released in 2006, it bombed.
Bhatt reasoned that Emraan needs to kiss on screen to carry on a film to success.
So when Murder 2 was being made, Bhatt advised director Mohit Suri, another nephew, to get the kiss out of the way in the first 10 minutes of the film so the audience could concentrate on other aspects of the film.
"It's like in Hitchcock films, people are constantly looking for the director to make an appearance. Once they spot him, they go back to concentrating on what's going on in the film," Bhatt reasoned.
5. All in the family
Image: Alia BhattBoth Emraan and Mahesh Bhatt may have iterated just how crazy their family is with refreshing candour, but the extent of it became apparent, comically though (we must add), when Alia Bhatt appeared on screen during the show to talk about her first cousin.
She revealed that she didn't know she was related to Emraan when she watched Footpath. Her dad Mahesh Bhatt's sister is Emraan's mum.
Another time, she was in her dad's office when they saw Emraan get mobbed outside.
Bhatt asked his daughter to ring the actor and ask how it felt to be on the verge of stardom.
"When Emraan replied, 'I feel like a star already,' I knew he was one of us because my father is obsessed with himself and I got it from him," Alia said.
