There's some interesting filmi music coming our way in 2014. We take a look at the year's much-awaited movie soundtracks.
The year 2014 is poised to be big for experimental films across genres in Bollywood.
So, we will also witness some interesting soundtracks for these exciting narratives.
While it remains to be seen if these upcoming film songs will appeal to a certain section of movie-goers or will enjoy popularity across the country, here's a look at some filmi music we eagerly look forward to sampling this year.
Highway
AR Rahman and Imtiaz Ali joining forces again after Rockstar is good enough reason to look forward to this film's music.
Moreover, since producer Sajid Nadiadwala is known for taking keen interest in his films' music, Highway is expected to have a standout score, if not the quintessential Bollywood fare.

Happy New Year
Image: Movie poster of Happy New YearShah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan didn't just churn out superhits with Om Shanti Om and Main Hoon Naa.
Both the films' music went on to achieve massive popularity.
So the actor-director duo is expected to deliver yet another chart-busting soundtrack with their upcoming film Happy New Year, with the help of musician duo Vishal-Shekhar.
Farah and Vishal-Shekhar too have a good track record with their last collaboration Tees Maar Khan having done exceptionally with its soundtrack.
Villain
Image: Siddharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor in VillainMohit Suri is yet another filmmaker who is known for melodious songs in his films.
Right from Zeher (which didn't do so well at the box office) to the surprise blockbuster Aashiqui 2 from last year, Mohit has chosen some exceptional tunes for his films.
And although he is stepping out of the Bhatt camp with Villian -- starring Siddharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor -- one hopes he'll retain his good taste in music this time too.
Kick
Image: Salman KhanWith Kick, Salman Khan has a big musical on the anvil with plenty of scope for some memorable tunes.
Sajid Nadiadwala, who turns director with this film, will presumably pick nothing but the best when it comes to the several musical outings that are interspersed in the narrative.
Shaatir
Image: Emraan Hashmi in Jannat 2Emraan Hashmi may have had a musically quiet year in 2013, courtesy films like Ek Thi Daayan and Ghanchakkar, that didn't really have much scope for songs.
But this year, he will step into familiar zone with Shaatir.
The film brings him back with director Kunal Deshmukh, with whom he worked in Jannat, Jannat 2 and Tum Miley in the past.
Bang Bang
Image: Katrina Kaif and Hrithik Roshan in Bang BangHrithik Roshan's last cinematic outing Krrish 3 didn't quite score many brownie points with its music.
But there shouldn't be any problem with Bang Bang, a fun thriller costarring Katrina Kaif.
The duo didn't have many romantic numbers in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara but that is reportedly being compensated for in this Siddharth Anand-directed affair.
It's Entertainment
Image: Tamannaah Bhatia and Akshay Kumar in It's EntertainmentAkshay Kumar, whose last film Boss's songs were a huge hit, will take it to the next level with Its Entertainment.
Designed as an out and out entertainer, the film is being helmed by TIPS (Race 2, Ramaiya Vastavaiya) with producer Ramesh Taurani going all out when it comes to ensuring some chart-buster tunes.
Action Jackson
Image: Ajay Devgn in Action JacksonPrabhu Dheva may often get picked on by critics for his films and their music but he will always have the common man's stamp of approval.
After the foot-tapping numbers in R... Rajkumar, Rowdy Rathore, Wanted, he promises to live up to his reputation with Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha starrer Action Jackson.
Happy Ending
Image: Saif Ali KhanSaif Ali Khan's latest home production Happy Ending is expected to feature some memorable tunes.
After all, his last few films -- Cocktail and Love Aaj Kal -- had boasted of some remarkable songs that are still very popular.
Peekay
Image: Rajkumar Hirani, Sanjay Dutt and Aamir Khan on the sets of PeekayOne continues to wonder if Rajkumar Hirani's latest offering will stand out in terms of music.
His previous films -- Munnabhai MBBS, Lagey Raho Munnabhai and 3 Idiots -- climbed up the musical charts only after the film's release.
The music from Hirani's films grows on listeners with time. But is fourth time the charm?
We'll know when this Aamir Khan starrer hits the marquee.
