BAFTA 2014: Cate Blanchett, 12 Years A Slave, Gravity win big!

The 67th British Academy Film and Television awards, held at the Royal Opera House on February 16, in London, England felicitated some of the finest cinematic works from last year.

Frontrunner for the Best Actress nod at all awards this season -- she has already scooped up the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild trophies -- Cate Blanchett emerged a winner at BAFTAs too.

Dressed in an elegant Alexander McQueen black gown with floral accents, the Australian beauty raised eyebrows as she diplomatically skipped thanking her Blue Jasmine director Woody Allen in her acceptance speech.

Also having a good night at the do was actor-producer Brad Pitt, who arrived at the awards show with partner Angelina Jolie, the star couple dressed in identical tuxedos.

Pitt, co-producer of 12 Years a Slave, in which he also had a brief yet pivotal role, received the Best Film award with director Steve McQueen.

British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, who picked up the Best Actor nod for his moving portrayal of a free black man forced into slavery in 12 Years A Slave, shows off his trophy.

The 36-year-old actor was accompanied by girlfriend Sari Mercer.

Accepting the award for his visually breathtaking film, Cuaron -- noting the category his film won in, joked, 'I make a good case for curbing immigration.'

Actor Barkhad Abdi, winner of the Best Supporting Actor BAFTA for his turn as a ruthless Somali pirate in Captain Phillips, receives a congratulatory hug from British acting stalwart Emma Thompson.

Thompson was nominated in the Best Actress category for Saving Mr Banks but lost out to Blanchett.

The film also won the Best Supporting Actress trophy for Jennifer Lawrence (who didn't attend the do), besting BAFTA favourite Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine).

Dame Helen Mirren, seen here arriving on the red carpet in a stunning beaded number, was honoured with the BAFTA fellowship this year by Britain's Prince William.

Veteran English actor Jeremy Irons was overheard saying during the felicitation, 'Anything less would have been an oversight.'

Rush, a biographical film based on Lauda's rivalry with his British rival James Hunt, was nominated in the Best British Film category.

Wolf Of Wall Street director Martin Scorsese and producer Emma Koskoff were also spotted on the red carpet.

The film was passed over in all the three categories it was nominated in, including Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio.

Marty's leading man cut a very fine figure in a classic black suit for the high profile event.

DiCaprio presented the Best Supporting Actress trophy for Lawrence.

Tom Hanks, who's had an exceptional year acting-wise -- he starred in Captain Phillips and in Saving Mr Banks as the late Walt Disney -- arrived with his gorgeous wife Rita Wilson.
