In what has become Christmas' finest television tradition, Marge Simpson annually waxes sarcastic about all things British in her Christmas speech.
The hilarious sardonic soliloquy is delivered to British viewers on Christmas Day, to provide them with an alternative speech parodying the near-simultaneous telecast of the Queen's Christmas Address.
This year, the cartoon housewife from television's longest running comedy series, The Simpsons, declares, 'My husband Homer and I have never been happier.' Then begin the inevitable digs, starting with the most fallible of targets. 'Our marriage is as solid as the union between your David Beckham and Posh Spice.' Then, informed of the 'affair' with senorita Rebecca Loos, the righteous Marge gasps.
Attention turns to the international political landscape, which is at a stage Marge applauds, saying, 'In world events, the friendship between America and Britain is stronger than ever.' She follows this up with a cinematic analogy: 'You're like Mini Me to our Dr Evil -- helping out in all our zany schemes to take over the world.'
At this point, Homer walks in dressed as Santa, yelling: 'Ho, ho, ho.' Marge pretends to be astonished, and says: 'Oh my goodness, it's a visit from Father Christmas!'
The donut loving, defiantly American Homer exclaims: 'Father Christmas? Who the hell is Father Christmas? I thought I was supposed to be Santa Claus!'
